Semiconductor Industry Veteran to Bring Management and Strategic Experience to Groundbreaking Biometric Fingerprint Sensor Company
San Jose, California, August 13, 2007 - Validity Sensors, Inc., a privately held biometric sensor company specializing in high quality, durable fingerprint sensors, today announced that Don Kirby has joined its Board of Directors.
Mr. Kirby brings with him extensive experience in the Semiconductor and PC industries. Prior to joining Validity's Board of Directors, Mr. Kirby served as General Manager and Senior Vice President at Synaptics, Inc., the world's leading supplier of innovative human interface devices for the PC, PC Peripheral, Music Player and Mobile phone markets. In this role, he led growth initiatives that enabled the company to grow its revenue and customer base in support of the Company's IPO and ultimately achieve unqualified market share leadership.
Don joined Synaptics after 28 years at National Semiconductor Corporation (National) where he served in a variety of management and technical roles. From 1980 until 1995, he was the Managing Director of six of National's wafer fabs and was instrumental in the formation of the joint venture between National and Tower Semiconductor. From 1995 to 1999 he served as Co-General Manager of the LAN Division, Vice President of the Technology and Strategic Planning Group, and Vice President of the Design Technology and Support Groups.
