Microsoft demonstrates Windows Biometric Framework in Windows 7 using Validity’s VFS201 fingerprint security solution at WinHEC 2008

San Jose, California, December 16, 2008 - Validity Sensors, Inc., a privately-held biometric sensor company specializing in convenient, secure and reliable fingerprint authentication solutions, announced that it is supporting the Windows Biometric Framework in Windows 7. Validity’s VFS201 fingerprint sensor was used by Microsoft Corp. in its demonstration of the new Windows Biometric Framework at the WinHEC 2008 conferences in Los Angeles and Taipei.

”Validity is proud to be working very closely with Microsoft during the development of the Windows Biometric Framework,” said Ramesh Kesanupalli, Chief Technology Officer at Validity. “Our support of the Windows Biometric Framework is just another example of our ongoing commitment to driving innovation and enabling convenient biometric security solutions.”

Microsoft’s Windows Biometric Framework facilitates greater adoption of fingerprint security solutions by providing a flexible platform which enables easy fingerprint sensor integration into PCs, offers a consistent user experience around fingerprint sensors, and allows third party applications to be seamlessly integrated with Windows.

“The Windows Biometric Framework is one of the many innovations we are excited to feature in Windows 7,” said Dustin Ingalls, Director of Program Management: Windows Core Operating System Division at Microsoft Corp. “As we develop Windows 7, it is important to integrate with companies like Validity to ensure these innovations come to life on the PC.”

Validity’s fingerprint solutions are already shipping in numerous notebook PCs and PC peripheral devices offered by companies such as HP, Acer and General Dynamics.
